Just a few questions about filling in my AB64 that I can't work out for myself. 1, Trade on enlistment- I'm guessing this means something along the lines of rifleman? 2, Approved society? 3, How long was the normal period of enlistment 4, Medical classification?? 5, Regimental Paymaster?? Any help, or where to look would be great as I want all my personal kit up to scratch for the start of this year

1) Trade upon enlistment = civilian trade i.e. cobbler, artizan, plumber etc.
2) Approved society = before the NHS individuals paid money into an approved society and were paid out a certain amount for sickness or death benefits i.e. Oddfellows, Ancient Order Of Forresters, Hearts Of Oak etc.
3) D o E = Duration of emergency was the norm unless you were a pre-war regular or Terrier.
4) A1 was required for front-line duty, not sure of the correct classifications without checking.
5) Book-keeping, who was the unlucky so and so who paid your wages - the norm was your own Regiments paymaster.
I would suggest NOT filling in your AB64 until you have looked at a couple of originals - and only then with a fountain pen - NO BLOCK CAPITALS though.

Sentimental Journey's your best bet mate, not too pricey either. I also recommend getting your AB64 part 2 aswell, as the part 2 was issued to all servicemen on active service

An AB64 from Sentimental journey will set you back £15.68......The part 2 will cost an extra £12.54......... I'm going to get one when I have the dosh to spare.
SOF don't seem to stock them anymore.

Cheers eddie, I should be getting a job soon (not because I want to stop scrounging, it's because I need £400 for a trombone, and my mum says she cant poop money...) so i'm probably gonna spare alot of cash for improving my kit this year And monty, keep up the good work chap

I got my AB64 part 1 and 2 plus a load of other paper work as a set for around £35. It was better value than just the AB64 alone and it gave me some stuff to fill my wallet with
