Famous Tigers....
Guy German - Senoir Officer at Colditz was a Tiger, captured alongside Sgt John Sheppard in Norway.
The Leicester Tigers Rugby was originally formed of Regimental men.
One of the first gazzetted VC's was to a Tiger, L/Sgt Smith of Dublin carried a wounded Officer back from the Great Redan at Savastopol. Interestingly Smith died in poverty and is beried in an unmarked grave.
The remnants of the British army that escaped Singapore formed the Chindits.... Leicesters & East Surrey's.

General James Wolfe was commisioned his Lieutenancy with the 17th, the Regimental mess still sets a place for him ...
the 1st man to destroy Gerry armour was Colour Sgt John Sheppard DCM. Norway 1940. His platoon is credited with holding the German advance whilst the British army evacuated.
