Living History as opposed to re-enactment/private battle. I think if this is half as good as I am expecting, there's no looking back - onwards and upwards gentlemen.

I hope we can take prisoners - obviously in a civilised manner gents - and the ctrs will be awesome. I'm quite good at the whole recce thing at night, since I have been doing that sort of thing for seven years now.
regards
Hedge. ;D

Has anyone been to one of these type of weekends before? I was just wondering that when the shooting stops for the evening/night, do we all get our heads down, or do we post people on watch and send out ctrs. Please please please say its the latter ;D

The full Monty mate.
Imagine an Infantry Platoon, it's late September 1944, 3 months since we replaced the Duke Of Wellingtons and already we are down from 37 men to 15 or so. It's our turn to man the forward O.P. in a 'quiet' sector of the front. The enemy are never far away, so we stay low and quiet manning the forward trenches. After a hectic day of minor firefights and recce patrols the Corporals return from an 'O' group - we take it in turns tonight patrolling and maintaining high alert - it looks like the luxury of sleep and food will be in short supply.
Stay low, stay quiet & stay alive!

Speaking as a total virgin to the reenacting scene, this is exactly why I joined up with tommy atkins..... My Granadad who spoke little about his experiances during the 2nd world war would spare some time to remember the friends lost whilst doing their duty to king and country...........Glad I can be a part of a group remembering what our 'forefathers' did for their familys and our country

Food in short supply!! why is there a war on.
I've got some rat packs left so taking them and anything else that can be eaten cold, not too bothered what as long as theres lots of it and it's full of sugar.
Out side the 30hr Ex is there a burger van? not bothered if not only I'll take more food!
Found this in a Airborne book. ISBN 1-57510-042-8 Standard 48hr ration (Airborne) 1 tin corned beef 12ounces 1 tin dripping spread 2 ounces 1 tin tea dried milk 1 box matches 1 tin service+sweet biscuits chocolate, acid drops+barley sugar 1 tin emergency rations Only thing is doesn't say how many biscuits or sweets The emergency rations are normal vitamin enriched chocolate. Also see The British Soldier Volume 1 ISBN 2-908182-44-0 for 24hr ration and 14 man one day compo rations p122/123

Ashamed to say I am a slightly scuicidal lung destroying tommy who would gladly swap his brew for a few wild woodbines........... (Kamikaze I know! ) Incidently the best modern day lookalikey WW2 f*gs I have seen are Players Navy Cut sold at our local train station, without filters and not drawing their pension.... Just a matter of ripping off the cellophane and putting them in a tin!
