The word I have been trying to remember for beach defences is "Hedgehog", but these were of metal with mines fitted, I believe were known as Czech???hedgehogs. Are these the same thing??

I think the purpose of the Czech Hedgehog was an obstacle against Landing craft as it would rip the Hull during a landing. I found this site, www.dday-overlord.com/PMurAeng.htmIt shows the Hedgehog and above that a picture of the aforementioned 'Rommel's Asparagus' a mine tipped version of. Interestingly from what I have read the allied tanks made use of the hedgehogs by affixing them to tanks and breaking through the bocages of Normandy.
